92118, Coronado, California

From across the San Diego bay is a resort city with a population of 25,000. This island is actually tied to the mainland by the 7 mile long "Silver Strand", named after the silver shells found there on the beach. The fastest way to get to Coronado Island is to cross the Coronado bridge which opened in 1969. Another route would be to use the bay ferries which run daily.

Coronado is home to the Hotel Del Coronado, built in 1888, making it a major resort destination to this day. Popular annual events include the July 4th parade along Orange Avenue with fireworks, a Sports Fiesta, the Superfrog Triathlon, the Summer Concert Series, and the Bridge Run which starts on the San Diego side of the bay and crosses over the bridge during the 4 mile race.
